When visiting Paris there are
a million and one sites to see, museums to explore, monuments
to photograph and much more your guide books will label as "must
- do". But for me, when I visit a foreign land I want to
eat what the locals eat and shop where the locals shop. My goal
is always to gain a truer vision of what life is like in far
away destinations, and there is no better place to capture this
experience than going to the local market. On my latest trip
to Paris, I was fortunate to meet up with Sue Young, a passionate
cook who's knowledge of French cuisine makes her the perfect
market companion.

She and I teamed
up at an open-air market in search of France's finest and freshest.
From the aromatic herbs of Provence to Poulet de Bresse and perfectly
aged cheese, I was in awe as we explored the sights and smells
of Paris. Sue and I picked up a few things and headed back to
her apartment where we created simple, imaginative food that was
all inspired by our trip to the market. |

While this was a great way for me to experience the Parisian way
of life, this is something Sue does regularly through her program,
"French for a Day". This program is a way for Sue Young
to take you on a journey through France's culinary treasures in
one day in Paris. Her close relationship with local vendors and
farmers allows you to get up close and personal with the food
lovers of France. Then she'll take you back to her apartment where
you'll get a lesson in French Cooking in her professional kitchen
and taste what the market has to offer that day. I highly recommend
Sue Young and "French for a Day" next time your in Paris
- I guarantee, it will be delicious!
